I think I'd ridden on one before reading the books, but not that I could really remember, and I have vivid memories of taking a train ride and reading Harry Potter on it--I'm not sure if this is a real memory, or one my brain has created because of the pre-existing association. <br /><br />ANYWAY, I totally used to take the train all the time from Portland to Eugene, and I take it now when I visit my friend in Seattle. They may not be as common here as in Europe, but they sound like they're definitely more common than in the 80s.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
